As the 2007 year comes to a close, the Weber County Economy is firing on all cylinders. The Aviation and Aerospace cluster is expanding employment to pre-recession levels, and investment is increasing in most of the manufacturing sector. Adam Aircraft has completed their start-up of a new facility in the airport based Ogden Gateway Center. Their jet-propelled version of this aircraft, the A-700, powered by gas turbine engines manufactured in Ogden at Williams International, is nearing certification by the Federal Aviation Administration. Tourism is up, as is the Retail trade environment.
With very little building vacancy in the Weber Industrial Park or the Ogden City Industrial Park, most new location interest is focusing on the Business Depot Ogden, formerly a military installation closed during the 1995 round of BRAC.
Ogden, the Weber County seat and largest city in northern Utah, continues to enjoy increasing recognition as a recreational hub. 12 major companies in the ski and winter sports industry have relocated operations to Ogden in the past two years, including Amer Sports (Atomic, Solomon, Suunto, Wilson, etc.), Scott, Rossignol, DeScente, Goode Ski, and others. 5 other companies providing support for these have also started operations in the city and surrounding area. The recently completed Solomon Center in the central business district is up and running and many other downtown revitalization efforts are underway, including a bold new Ogden River Parkway project.
