Ogden/Weber Applied Technology College (OWATC) One of the eleven Utah College of Applied Technology institutions, the OWATC provides a wide variety of programs, including Custom Fit Training, to meet the specific needs of local industry. In the production environment, the ATC has private sector-driven programs in skilled machining, welding, construction, and other skill areas. The ATC is recognized within the state as a leader in providing training support to local manufacturing.
The ATC is currently working with Williams International to create a new Lean Manufacturing Training Center in an effort to increase training and education of the Weber County manufacturing workforce.
Weber State University (WSU) Located in Ogden, WSU is one of the leading Applied Technology University’s in the United States. Engineering and business majors supply a steady flow of personnel to area manufacturers. Highly advanced welding and related courses are also available to support the production based economy of the region.
Northern Utah Manufacturer’s Alliance (NUMA) This organization represents area manufacturing, academia, and other community based organizations interested in furthering “Best Practices”, Lean Manufacturing, workforce development, and management expertise. In addition to developing curriculum for classroom training, on-the-job training opportunities are made available to individuals across a broad variety of production environments, allowing for the sharing of techniques and methods designed to help participants achieve world-class capability in the manufacturing area.
